The Brief
A deodorant for the people no one was formulating for
The Mags Skin founders came to us with a clear and underserved brief: develop a spray deodorant that actually works for people with eczema, psoriasis, and reactive skin — without the ingredients that typically cause flare-ups.
The market was full of “natural” deodorants that still contained baking soda (a common irritant), essential oils (fragrance triggers), or alcohol (drying and sensitising). The founders wanted something genuinely different: a clean, science-backed formula that prioritised skin health without compromising on 24-hour efficacy.
The challenge was technical: building a stable, sprayable magnesium suspension that would stay homogeneous in a non-aerosol bottle, dry quickly, and remain gentle enough for the most reactive skin types — while meeting the ingredient standards required for NEA and NPF certification consideration.
The Formula

No fillers, no fragrance, no compromise. The Mags Skin formula was built around a single principle: if it could irritate reactive skin, it was out.

Magnesium Hydroxide — naturally neutralises odour-causing bacteria without disrupting skin pH
Probiotic
Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate + Lactobacillus Ferment — supports the skin’s natural protective barrier
Botanicals
Aloe Vera, Chamomile, Witch Hazel — immediate soothing for reactive and eczema-prone skin
Humectants
Glycerin + Propanediol (from sugar cane) — moisture balance without wet or sticky feel
Preservatives
Gluconolactone + Sodium Benzoate — gentle, skin-conditioning preservation system

Development of a magnesium hydroxide spray base — fragrance-free, alcohol-free, aluminum-free. Multiple prototype iterations to achieve the right suspension stability and spray viscosity.
Sampling & Testing
Physical samples shipped to founders for real-world testing. Dermatologist review coordinated. Formula refined to achieve 24-hour efficacy on eczema and psoriasis-prone skin.
Regulatory Compliance
INCI list prepared for Canada and US labelling. Ingredient safety documentation compiled. Product positioned for National Eczema Association and National Psoriasis Foundation certification applications.
Production Run
10,000-unit small-batch production run at our Toronto facility. Full batch records maintained. In-house QC at every stage of filling and packaging.
