Production runs sized to a real launch
Most contract manufacturers start at 5,000 or 10,000 units per SKU. For a brand that has not sold a single jar yet, that is an enormous bet on a formula, a shade, a scent and a package that have never met a customer.
Small batch manufacturing means producing in quantities a new or growing brand can actually sell through. We run from 250 units per SKU, which is enough to stock a shop, supply a spa, fulfil a pre-order or test a line properly, without tying up your capital in inventory sitting in a warehouse.
It also means you can be wrong cheaply. If the texture needs adjusting or a scent does not land with your customers, you change it on the next run instead of living with 9,000 units of a product you no longer believe in.

The numbers people actually ask about
Our minimum is 250 units per SKU for most wash-off and leave-on formats. Packaging is the usual constraint rather than the formula: component suppliers set their own minimums, and a custom bottle or a decorated jar will often carry a higher one than the batch itself. We flag that early so it never arrives as a surprise late in a project.
A straightforward run using an existing formula and stock packaging typically moves from approved sample to finished goods in a matter of weeks. A new formula developed from scratch takes longer, because stability and compatibility testing cannot be rushed without putting your brand at risk. We give you a realistic date at the quote stage rather than an optimistic one.

Small batch suits founders launching a first line, established brands testing a new category, spas and clinics wanting a own-label range, and anyone whose product benefits from being made close to the date it is sold.
It is a poorer fit if you are already moving tens of thousands of units of a stable, unchanging formula. At that volume the per-unit economics of a large run win, and the right move is to scale. - Samples. You receive prototypes to test and give notes on, with rounds of refinement built in.
